Energy Alarm Clock ? - New Ofgem Energy Rules for Small Businesses

Ofgem have produced this leaflet which introduces new rules from Jan 2010 for energy suppliers to advise small business customers of their contract renewal and notice period dates in advance.

This is good news for anyone entering a new contract after that date but please be aware that these rules will not apply to anyone on an existing contract. The onus is still on them to give notice ( typically 3 – 6 months ) at the required time to avoid being automatically rolled over onto a new contract at terms determined by the existing supplier.

My advice to all business owners is to act now ( before you forget ! ) and request Pink Connect to be your energy alarm clock to ;
  • schedule the required notice for you
  • obtain alternative quotes for your needs at the right time
  • give you a choice between these quotes and the renewal offer from your existing supplier with no obligation to accept either
You will not be rolled over by your existing supplier and can ensure you get the best value for your business.
